The theme of the convention this year is “Engineering the Impossible for the Next Centennial - Celebrating CIE/USA: 100-year legacy” as we also celebrate the 100th year anniversary of our national organization, CIE/USA.

Event 2017 DFW Youth English Speech Contest - July 22, 2017, Collin College Spring Creek Campus

The 2017 DFW Youth English Speech Contest is a CIE-sponsored event. It is a unique opportunity for youths to initiate, research, write, and deliver an address to public audience. Volunteers of Texas Dragon Toastmasters Club will organize the contest. Experienced trained judges will judge all levels of competition. Students in grades 1 to 12 are invited to participate.

Young Achiever Award (YAA) promotes and recognizes exceptional academic excellence in STEM, and active involvement of extra-curricular activities and community services of the youths. The award is to recognize students of 10th and 11th grade with top academic achievements at school, outstanding engineering and science accomplishments, demonstrated leadership and active involvement of community services. The award will be presented at the CIE/USA-DFW 2017 Annual Convention evening banquet at Renaissance Dallas Richardson Hotel on August 19, 2017.

Event 2017 CIE/USA-DFW MathComp/MathFun - June 3, 2017, Collin College Spring Creek Campus

The Annual MathComp/MathFun and Parenting Seminar is the flagship CIE/USA-DFW youth program attracting participation of about a thousand students, parents, educators and volunteers each year. This goal of this grand math fair is composed of 3 events: (a) a math competition, (b) a math fun fair and (c) a parenting seminar. The main goal is the simulate interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) subjects within the youth at their early ages.

Event 2017 CIE Leadership and Career Development - April 8th, 2017, Ericsson Lecture Hall at The University of Texas at Dallas, 800 W. Campbell Road, Richardson, TX 75080

The CIE/USA-DFW Chapter is pleased to present the 2017 CIE Leadership and Career Development seminar "8 Essentials for Early Careers." This seminar is a parallel track alongside the 2017 CIE/IEEE/UTD Spring Technical Symposium, and it targets graduating university students and young professionals who desire career advice before and immediately after their entrance in to the workforce. Four industry leaders from companies around the Dallas area will come share their personal experiences and provide guidance in the areas of networking, career growth, and selecting the right career for you.

Event 2017 CIE/IEEE/UTD Spring Technical Symposium - April 8, 2017, TI Auditorium at The University of Texas at Dallas, 800 W. Campbell Road, Richardson, TX 75080

The CIE/USA-DFW Chapter is pleased to present the 2017 Spring Technical Symposium "Smart City, Smart Health." This event is co-hosted by CIE-DFW Chapter, IEEE Dallas Section and The University of Texas at Dallas. The 2017 CIE/IEEE/UTD Spring Technical Symposium "Smart City, Smart Health" aims on exchanging ideas, best practices and technical innovations in the field of smart cities and smart health. Six executives and experts from high-tech companies and research institutions around the Dallas area will present topics in these fields and their innovations, applications and challenges. Panel discussion will follow immediately after the presentation.

The convention will feature fall technical symposium, VIP reception, evening ceremony and technical forum. The CIE 2016 Technology Symposium is held in conjunction with the Annual Convention and will focus on the overall theme of "Smart City, Smart Life".

Various experts from the fields of smart home, smart sensing, leading manufacturing and automation technology, and leadership will discuss the current emerging trends to transition into a smart city and how these technologies affect people today.

Event 2016 LAMP Leadership Assessment & Mentoring Program -April 9, 2016, Saturday, 2:00 –5:30 pm

The Leadership Assessment and Mentoring Program (LAMP) event is one of the long-standing CIE/USA-DFW events featuring "Leadership" and "Career Mentoring" for young professionals. This event is especially designed for graduating university students and young professionals who desire to enhance their knowledge and hand-on experience on hiring process, career development, corporate culture, and leadership.

Event 2016 CIE Tech Forum "Opportunities Outside of Your Current Career Path" - Thursday March 24 from 6:30-8:30pm

Chinese leaders approved an economic blueprint for next decade that emphasizes tackling long-term problems and reflects a realization that debt and investment can no longer power the world’s second-largest economy. What China really needs, is deep structural reforms that will be heavily dependent on technology innovations. This presents many great opportunities to oversea Chinese professionals with deep STEM expertise.

Event 2016 Community Youth Leadership Camp (CYLC) - Aug 1- 6, 2016, TAMU - Commerce

The purpose of the Community Youth Leadership Camp (CYLC) is to give direction and guidance while building confidence through enhancing communication and team building skills in aspiring Chinese American youth. To prepare Chinese American young leaders for the main stream community and reinforce their pride in being Chinese American. Event 2016 CIE/USA-DFW Nothing But Net Challenge (regional level) VEX Robotics Competition - Saturday, February 13th,2016 at Schimelpfenig Middle School, with 24 teams participating.

CIE/USA-DFW will be hosting the second VEX Robotics Tournament - Nothing But Net Challenge. The VEX Robotics Competition offers teams of students that are tasked with designing and building a robot to play against other teams from around the world in a game-based engineering challenge. Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test on the playing field as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications, and more. Tournaments are held year-round at the regional, state, and national levels; local champions go on to compete against the best in the world at the VEX Robotics World Championship each April!
