2005 CIE/USA-DFW Annual Convention News Release


 

 

CEO and Co-Founder of Trend Micro, Ms. Eva Chen, is Banquet Keynote Speaker at CIE/USA-DFW 2005 Convention

 

Richardson, TX (July 15, 2005) -- Ms. Eva Chen, CEO and co-founder of Trend Micro, will deliver the keynote address at the evening banquet of the Chinese Institute of Engineers/U.S.A Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter 2005 Annual Convention at the Westin Galleria Hotel in Dallas on Saturday, August 20.

 

The theme of this year's convention is 'Global Transformation -The Flat World'. In light of the current geopolitical environment, this subject explores whether globalization is over and the notion that globalization has collapsed time and distance to the point where a person anywhere on earth can do your job more cheaply.

Banquet keynote speaker, Ms. Eva Chen, has helped spearhead Trend Micro's emergence as one of the world's most innovative antivirus security companies since its inception in 1988. Before she became CEO, Eva served as Executive Vice President from 1988-1996 and Chief Technology Officer from 1996-2004. During this time, she made an indelible mark on the company and the security landscape as a whole. Under her direction, Trend Micro produced a chronology of industry firsts, from unique products to outbreak management approaches. As a result of her innovation and leadership, she was appointed CEO in late 2004. In 2003, Eva was acknowledged by Information Security magazine as one of the top five most influential 'Women of Vision'. The honor was a testament to her long-standing reputation as one of the security industry's true pioneers and thought leaders.

 

Speaking in the opening session will be Mr. Patrick Jenevein, the President of Tang Energy Group. Patrick Jenevein is also the President of The Nolan Group ('Nolan'), NG Processing Company. Jenevein founded Nolan in 1986 to enter the natural gas business. NG Processing Company, Inc. grew out of Nolan's gas gathering and processing operations. NG Processing Company, Inc. formed Tang Energy Group in 1996 to build, own, and operate energy delivery systems in China. Nolan, the company incubator, continues exploration, production, gas gathering, and power generating activities in the United States and the Caribbean.

 

In addition to these two outstanding speakers, the Convention also features many technical presentations of general interest.

 

CIE, established in 1917, is one of the most prestigious Asian professional organizations in the US with over 10,000 members and has been devoted to promoting our profession and information exchange among technology professionals, engineers, and scientists.  The Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter, established in 1989, has nearly 800 members.
