“Prognosis for Growth in Medical Devices: A Semiconductor Prospective”

Sunglasses that give some sight to the blind, pacemaker-like devices that block intractable pain, these wonders are possible because chipmakers such as Texas Instruments have identified an important new growth area: high-tech medicine. The market for medical semiconductors is growing at a brisk 12% a year, and could hit $4.6 billion in 2012. Mr. Matt Harrison, General Manager of TI’s Medical Business Unit is to give an in-depth talk of this exciting market with significant business opportunities and breathtaking innovations that would change human beings’ lives.

Matt Harrison is General Manager of TI’s Medical Business Unit, where he directs the definition, development and delivery of semiconductors for medical devices.

Matt began his career at TI in 1996 as a technical sales representative. Between 1999 and 2001, Matt played strategic roles in growing TI’s optical networking and digital power businesses, and he led the digital power business until 2003. In 2003, Matt left TI to co-found Commoca, Incorporated where he served as COO and was a member of the Board of Directors. In August 2006, Matt rejoined TI to help drive TI’s medical initiative.

Matt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University. He and his wife, Julie, have two daughters and enjoy outdoor activities including sports and camping.
