Composite Transport Group: a New Transport Technology and its Applications

    Telecommunication industry is currently undergoing a major technology shift that is comparable with the introduction of Frame Relay and IP VPN: packetized transport network. This new technology will further blur the lines between OSI layer 1, 2 and 3 networks, and change the landscape of the fixed line telecom segment for the next 10 years. Ning So developed a technology called Composite Transport Group (CTG), which is a packetized transport technology. CTG has just been integration into the ITU-T Packet Transport Architecture standard G.800 in Feb 2008. This presentation will provide an overview of the technology, and discuss in detail how this technology can help solving some major problems in today’s data networks.
