From Abstract Painting to Information Visualization
at Plano Harrington Library Program Room
“Do you like painting? Have you ever heard of information visualization? Do you know these two are closely tied together? In this seminar, Prof. Zhang will guide us to the world of information visualization starting from the theories and practices in abstract painting. We will discuss the three dimensions of painting, i.e. form, color, and texture, various visual cognition principles, and finally aesthetic compositions used in abstract painting. Prof. Zhang will show us how to bridge visual art with information visualization so that the latter could learn from the former in creating more aesthetic visualizations and thus making the viewers visualizing process a pleasant experience. ”
