2006 China Semiconductor Market Update and SMIC's Position

CIE Microelectronics Group is proud to present Dr. Robert Y. H. Tsu, Associate Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Semi-conductor Manufacturing International (Shanghai) Corporation (SMIC), to give a forty five minutes speech titled “China Semiconductor Market Update and SMIC's Position”. SMIC is one of the leading semi-conductor foundries in the world. Dr. Tsu is a world-class expert on semi-conductor foundry and memory and logic technology development. He holds 9 US patents and has published more than 20 papers.

China semi-conductor industry is benefiting from the Integrated Circuit (IC) growth engine driven by domestic demand. “IC Insights” and “EE Times” predicted that the China IC market is expected to grow from $40.8B USD in 2005 to $124B USD in 2010, making China the world’s largest regional market.

In this seminar Dr. Tsu will provide first-hand information on opportunities of China IC market and the semi-conductor supply chain being built in China. The semi-conductor supply chain includes, but not limited to, system companies, IC design houses, wafer foundries, subcons, and associate materials/equipment vendors. Dr. Tsu will also address how SMIC as an investment-heavy wafer foundry in this supply chain has been acting as a seed in stimulating the growth.

This is a wonderful opportunity not only for IC engineers but also for engineers of all relating areas to be exposed to the big picture of the booming semi-conductor industry in China, and to investigate potential business development in this multi-billion-dollar supply chain.
