CIE/USA-DFW Telecom Forum held the first of the series of three seminars on Saturday, April 23 at Maribelle Davis Library in Plano. We had great participation from various industries and business segments.

The seminar started with a brief introduction of Mr. Jack Miao, who is a well known expert in the business investment and consultation fields. He also teaches at Southern Methodist University Business School MBA program.

First, Mr. Jack Miao presented the definitions, scopes, and key elements of Entrepreneurship, highlighted the investor expectations, and the key aspects that a solid business plan would require. Then small teams were formed to start group projects. The main focus of this series of seminars is to learn through a hands-on approach to learn the necessary steps/processes to write a successful business plan. The follow up sessions will be held in an August/September time frame when the teams will return to present the business plans..

The purpose of the seminars is to:

a) look at the key elements of entrepreneurship, investor expectations and business plan elements

b) prepare, within a team environment, a business plan to attract investment funding and learn executive presentation techniques

c) present, as a team, to share the business plan with the rest of the group

The participants will achieve the following outcomes:

i) Listen to the theory and discuss potential areas where they would like to bring a product or service to market

ii) Prepare, within a team environment, a business plan

iii) Present, as a team, the results of the business plan
