Major Duties
The United States Postal Service has the following excellent and challenging employment opportunity for highly motivated and innovative individuals to work in our Law Department. The paralegal specialist will assist attorneys by conducting legal research, preparing correspondence drafts or legal documents, and assembling and maintaining digests of legal materials and precedents; and checking legal citations for form and accuracy.
Qualifications Required
1. Knowledge of Federal Rules of Civil Procedur! e at a level sufficient to draft discovery requests and responses, simple pleadings, and similar documents.
2. Ability to identify legal issues presented by moderately complex factual situations and to perform investigations of the factual circumstances underlying legal issues presented.
3. Ability to conduct legal research utilizing standard legal research materials, including statutory and regulatory materials, policy handbooks and manuals, and legal research databases such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
4. Ability to analyze and present the results of research and investigations in a clear concise manner, both orally and in writing.
5. Ability to coordinate and conduct training seminars and workshops for management and employees.
6. Ability to prepare written materials, using a word processing system such as MS Word.
7. Ability to work effectively on multiple projects with stringent deadlines.
